Train the trainer

Central Otago

13 weeks
This programme has been developed specifically for international students. It will develop their skills in delivering horticulture training and enable them to gain a deeper understanding of the New Zealand horticulture industry.

The programme is delivered over 13 weeks.

During this time, students gain knowledge through tuition, practical workshops, visits to local industries and industry placement days. See the Programme Schedule below for more details.

Students are able to focus on an industry of their choice during the programme and intern placements are available during the harvest season. Weekly work placements are also available during the cherry and export harvest.

Some limited online study is required.

There will be English tuition every day, which will continue until the student has an appropriate level of English skills. Learners will complete their portfolio of evidence within the English programme. Students should have some English prior to arrival (IELTS Level 4.0 is preferred). Spanish speaking staff will be used to assist learners during the programme.
